Sleep is right at the top of our services because it's the foundation for wellbeing - without enough good quality sleep our physical and mental health suffers. In the UK approximately one in three adults are struggling with disrupted sleep resulting in difficulty concentrating/learning new information, daytime tiredness, and irritability.
While disrupted sleep may be a temporary issue caused by life changes, chronic insomnia (disrupted sleep for three or more nights per week lasting over three months) can lead to more serious health problems. Chronic insomnia is linked with depression, stress, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease - it is estimated that the annual cost of insomnia to the NHS is £39.5 million. Recent research estimates that the cost to the UK economy is £34 billion in gross domestic product (GDP) per year due to productivity loss in the workplace (RAND Europe 2023).
