For staff working in stressful environments the provision of supervision is essential to help manage the demands of the job. Internal supervision can be useful for line management purposes but inevitably involves issues regarding employee/line manager relationships. There is a risk that supervision becomes a 'tick box' exercise that has no benefit to employees or their organisation.
Our independent supervision service removes power dynamics, encourages the supervisee to set the agenda for the session and supports reflective practice and critical thinking.
The benefits of external supervision:
Provides a safe and confidential space for employees to talk openly about all workplace issues
Helps develop knowledge, skills and confidence
Provides time for reflection, the development of perspective and improved relationships
Contributes to a happier working environment and job satisfaction
Supports a healthy work/life balance and employee wellbeing
Reduces workload for line managers
Providing employees with a supervision service that works is a more effective use of time and and budget.
Catalyst provides both one to one and group supervisions. Our reflective practice supervisions are facilitated by Hilary Schwager - with over 20 years' experience working in the voluntary sector, Hilary holds a British Psychological Society recognised certificate in Essential Supervision Skills and is a qualified Mental Health First Aider.
